Psalms are songs written by poets of the past. King David wrote this psalm in the dessert of Judah, at a time when the things that he normally would depend on is not available. This psalms does apply to us in today's aspects. In Singapore we hardly have no food to eat, or no place to stay, unlike some other countries but we can use this chapter of Psalm 63 to remind us that God is always there when we need Him. We must learn to continually give thanks to Him and acknowledge His presence by day or by night. This song is especially written because we tend to remember better when a tune a put to the words. And since the words comes from the bible, by putting in this tune (stated in verse 5b - with singing lips my mouth will praise you), it helps us express our thanksgiving and gratefulness as once David did. Let the psalm speak for itself.
Oh Lord you are my God, I'll seek Thee earnestly,
My soul thirst and my body longs for Thee,
In a dry and weary land,
Where there is no water.
I see You in the sanctuary,
And beheld Your power and Your glory,
Your love in better then life,
My lips will glorify Thee.
I will praise You as long as I live,
And in Your name I will lift my hands,
My soul will be satisfied,
As with the richest of foods,
With singing lips, my mouth will praise Your name.
Oh Lord, You are my God, I'll seek Thee earnestly,
My soul thirst and my body longs for Thee,
In a dry and weary land,
Where there is no water.
On my bed I remember Thee, I think of Thee,
Through the watches of the night,
Because You are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings,
My soul clings to You, And Your right hand upholds me.
They who seek my life will be destroyed,
They will go down to the depths of the earth,
They will be given over to the sword,
And become food of the jackals.
But the king will rejoice in God,
All who swear by God's name will praise Him,
But the mouths of liars, will be silenced.
Will be silenced
Will be silenced…..
